Album released in 1987 by the group Ephat Mujuru and the Spirit of the People, led by Zimbabwean mbira master Ephat Mujuru and singer Gora Thomas Wadharwa, is a masterpiece. This album features an ensemble including mbira players Sydny Maratu and Frederick Mujuru, hosho players Sydney Mujuru and Thomas Muza, and singers Beatrice Jossam and Angela Mabika. Together, they perform beautifully arranged pieces of traditional mbira music, layering simple and warm mbira melodies with beautiful choruses. This album, along with the previously mentioned Mbavaira released in 1983, is a highly recommended essential must-have.
