The mysterious group Tchalo, which is believed to have been active for a short period in Düsseldorf, Germany, released their only album in 1990. Judging by the photos, the band seems to consist of two North Africans and three Germans. The album exudes a vibe reminiscent of the 1980s Parisian Raï scene popularized by Carte De Séjour, as well as the German ethno-band Dissidenten, which originated from Embryo. However, it prominently features elements of North African folk music, such as from Algeria, creating a unique blend of ethnic rock throughout the entire album. It is an intriguing piece.
