Released in 1987, features traditional music from the Republic of Bulgaria, located in the Balkan Peninsula. The album features many of the most famous singers and performers in Bulgarian folk music at the time, including Trio Bulgarka, consisting of famous singers such as Yanka Rupkina, Eva Georgieva, and Stoyanka Boneva, the instrumental group Trakiiskata Troika, and the famous bagpipe player Kostadin Kostadin Varimezov. The traditional female chorus, which became widely known as the "Bulgarian voice" in the world music movement of the 1980s, and the sustained vibrato of the bagpipes, known as gaida, are just a few examples of the various musical traditions of Bulgaria, which formed its own unique tradition while mixing with the musical cultures of Turkey and other Islamic countries.
