An album released in 1985, compiling SP record recordings of Yoruba music from the region around Nigeria, Africa. It features 16 rare tracks from the 1930s to the 1950s by artists such as Irewolede Denge, Tunde King, Ayinde Bakare, Ojo Babajide, and Julius Olofin. Gaining worldwide recognition during the world music boom that flourished in the 1980s, this collection offers a glimpse into the roots of Nigerian artists like King Sunny Ade and Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, whose music came to be known in the Western world as Juju music. Highly recommended. Background noise is attributed to the SP records.
