An album released in 1972 on the prestigious CTI Records by Airto Moreira, the amazing Brazilian percussionist who was also active on the American jazz scene. It features a superb lineup of artists closely associated with CTI, including Hubert Laws, Keith Jarrett, Joe Farrell, Flora Purim, Stanley Clarke, Ron Carter, George Benson and Chick Corea. Highlights include A1, a further grooved-up take on the title track from Chick Corea’s historic ECM masterpiece Return to Forever, and A2, where the primitive tones of the berimbau and flute are joined by a gorgeous brass ensemble that gently soars. A masterpiece that brilliantly elevates the essence of Brazilian music through a jazz filter. US reissue released in 1979 with alternate artwork.
