ピアノ協奏曲 / チェロ協奏曲
Denon (Japan) 1980

sleeve : EX(Slightly faded on back)
media : EX/EX(a slight dust noise)

This is the thirteenth album released in 1980 from the Nippon Columbia/Denon "Music of Contemporary Japan 1500" series by composer Akio Yashiro, featuring two works: the "Piano Concerto" (1967) and the "Cello Concerto" (1960). Both pieces were recorded at Setagaya Kumin Kaikan in 1968. Performed by Hiroko Nakamura (piano), Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi (cello) and NHK Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Hiroshi Iwashiro. The commentary says that the "Cello Concerto" on the B-side "is an attempt to combine Western and Japanese aesthetics, and in many respects this attempt succeeds. The A-side, "Piano Concerto," is noteworthy for its dramatic and rather grandiose development in three movements. I highly recommend it even to those who don't like classical music or orchestral music.

A: ピアノ協奏曲
