Album released in 1979 by An Bichi, a leading singer in the Korean traditional music world how designated as a human cultural heritage. This work features the 'Repentance Song', a Buddhist family song said to have been composed by the great monk Seosan and containing moral stories and wishes told by mendicant monks while beating a gong for their masters, which was learnt and popularised by Seo-do singers with good voices. You will be fascinated by the singing of an Bichi, who sings with an extremely powerful voice, undulating and strong, along with the beat of the gong she strikes herself. The interest of Korean popular music is yet to be measured, but this is one of the best pieces I have heard so far, and I urge you to listen to it with an avant-garde ear.
