A 1980 album by Buenos Aires-born saxophonist Andrés Boiarsky, who appears on numerous important Argentine jazz recordings, including works by Jorge López Ruiz. Recorded in London and released by Spotlite Records, the label also known for titles by groups such as Paz. The lineup includes Phil Lee (g), Paul Rogers (b), Allan Cox (ds), and Simon Morton (perc). A1 is a graceful Brazilian bossa-jazz piece, with Boiarsky’s saxophone gliding elegantly over a light, buoyant rhythm. A3 stands out for its primitive berimbau and chant-like vocals, while A4 beautifully combines a tropical Latin beat with an expressive guitar solo. The real highlight, however, is B1: a superb jazz-rock track in which electric guitar, saxophone, drums, and bass move between fiery intensity and cool restraint over crisp, driving percussion. A seriously stylish and highly recommended record.
