Angel "Pocho" Gatti, an Italian pianist/arranger who has been active since the 50's, has played with Ornella Vanoni and many other artists, and also played on the album "Summit" with Astor Piazzolla and Gerry Mulligan. This is a mysterious album. It was probably produced as a project for Quasar, a company that was researching hi-fi technology, but the details are unknown. With the participation of some of Italy's finest session musicians, the album features groovy jazz tracks such as A2, with its funky rhythm section and flute, as well as tracks composed by Gatti and covers by Wagner and Barden Powell. It would be a shame to call it "easy listening," but it's an excellent performance.
