A 1987 album by Arco Iris, an Argentine group active since the 1970s. This recording dates from the period after most of the original members had left, when the group relocated to the United States and was re-formed with American musicians. While retaining the strong ethnic sensibility of their early work, deeply informed by the traditional music of South America, their sound had evolved into a more transparent blend of jazz and crossover with a distinctly new age touch. The contrast between the primitive timbres of percussion and vertical flutes resonating through the spacious sound field and the clear tones of electronic instruments is especially beautiful.
