Born in Syria and raised in Egypt, Asmahan was a legendary Egyptian female singer who was active in the 1930s and passed away in 1944 at the young age of 31. It is said that Asmahan strongly influenced Lebanese divas Fairouz and Sabah, and it is a wonderful glimpse into the history of Arab songs with her unique Arabic swaying voice and singing style. The original sound quality is not good, as it was probably recorded from old SP recordings, but it is well worth listening to.

A1: Ahwa
A3: Ya Dirati
