Cama de Gato
Guerra Fria
Som Da Gente (Brazil) 1988
SDG 036/88 (LP) w/original inner sleeve.
sleeve : VG+(SPSE: peel-off of tape on surface, some wear on edge and corner, wrinkles on two corners.)
media : EX-/EX-(some light noise.)
This is the second album, released in 1988, by the Brazilian jazz quartet Cama de Gato, featuring Pascoal Meirelles (drums), Mauro Senise (soprano sax, flute), Rique Pantoja (keyboards, vocals), and Arthur Maia (bass). A1 offers an organic interplay of bright electric-piano backing and pleasantly reverberant flute, while A2 opens with a deeply spiritual, swaying bass solo and delicate electric-piano touches, unfolding into an essential soundscape reminiscent of ECM and European jazz. From sleek, urban contemporary jazz rich in metropolitan sensibility to aggressive fusion built on free-form interplay, the album presents a superb range of styles. Pantoja’s melancholic keyboard work is especially striking. The standout is B2, an urban, melancholic tune where Rique Pantoja’s electric piano and falsetto vocals drift beautifully in the air—highly recommended.
A2: Mergulho
B2: Dama Da Noite
