Cappelletti - Ottaviano Quartet
Samadhi
Splasc(h) Records (Italy) 1986
H 111 (LP) w/original inner sleeve (tear on side.)

media : EX+/EX+(some slightly surface noises, still good.)

Released in 1986 on the excellent Italian jazz label Splasc(h) Records, this is a quartet album by Italian pianist Arrigo Cappelletti and saxophonist Roberto Ottaviano. Piero Leveratto(b), Massimo Pintori(dr). Six of the seven tracks on the album are original scores by Cappelletti and Ottaviano, and although the music is straightforward contemporary jazz via modernism, it has a cool deepness with a transparent sound and sophisticated atmosphere that is typical of Italian jazz of this era. This is a great album. I highly recommend this album to those who have not experienced 80s modal jazz.
