A 1984 album by American pianist and composer Carla Bley, who co-founded the Jazz Composers Orchestra Association with her husband Michael Mantler and made an immense contribution to the jazz community, including helping to protect musicians from commercial exploitation. The album features Michael Mantler, Steve Swallow, Kenny Kirkland, and others. Released at the height of the fusion era, it finds Bley applying her impeccable sense of style to a superb set of sophisticated urban crossover jazz. While colorful and tropical flavors run throughout the album, she also delivers sharply focused contemporary jazz on tracks such as B2—a fine reminder of her remarkable breadth and originality. German pressing in a textured sleeve, complete with insert.
