Released in 1985, this album was created by American pianist and composer Carla Bley in collaboration with Steve Swallow. Together with her husband Michael Mantler, Bley founded the Jazz Composer’s Orchestra Association and made an enormous contribution to the jazz world, including efforts to protect musicians from commercial exploitation. Randy Brecker, Michael Mantler, Victor Tayler, and others also participate. Taking a clear step away from the avant-garde style of her work through the 1970s, the album presents an ambitious blend of sophisticated, refreshing, adult-oriented fusion with a strong pop sensibility and an unmistakably urban atmosphere.
