This 1975 album by American saxophonist Charles McPherson, who has worked with Charles Mingus, Barry Harris, and Pepper Adams, and who has also recorded many leader albums since the 1960s. The album features Duke Jordan (p), Leroy Williams (ds) and Sam Jones (b), McPherson reexamined his own musicality after the death of Charlie Parker, who was his greatest influence, and recorded all of the standard numbers on this album. The performance is full of emotion, as if the lyrics were expressed in melody without words. The saxophone tone, which combines luster and dryness, seeps into the listener's body.
