Courtney Pine, a Jamaican-British multi-instrumentalist who gained worldwide fame with the massive hit "I’m Still Waiting" in 1990 and started his career in the early 80s with the reggae DJ duo Clint Eastwood & General Saint, released his second leader album in 1988. The album features Jamaaladeen (tech), Joe Basorun (piano), Julian Joseph (piano), Gary Crosby (bass), Paul Hunt (bass), and Mark Mondesir (drums). This work, representing the new jazz generation of the 80s, showcases Pine's saxophone solos with a clear tone over a rhythm section delivering sophisticated beats. His performance on A5, a rendition of Thelonious Monk's classic, is particularly outstanding. This is the original UK pressing.
