This is a duo album released in 1985 by saxophonist Dewey Redman and drummer Ed Blackwell, who explored new jazz with fellow countrymen Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry, and Charlie Haden, and later contributed to the birth of free jazz. Includes live recordings from their appearance at the Willisau '80 Jazz Festival in Willisau, Switzerland in 1980. From a free-form performance that further develops Coleman's pioneering jazz, to ethnic jazz with Redman's bagpipes creating an oriental atmosphere, this is a masterful performance made possible by the fact that these two musicians have repeatedly performed together on numerous occasions. Blackwell's drumming is also very cool, just like it should be. Highly recommended.
