The quartet of Swedish bassist Palle Danellsson, German saxophonist Wolfgang Engstfeld, Belgian pianist Michael Herr (p), and American drummer Leroy Lowe, well known for their ECM releases, released this album on the excellent German label Mood Records in 1980. released this album on the excellent German label Mood Records in 1980. The album features cymbals gently resonating at the top of the soundstage, bass playing taut lines, elegant acoustic piano, and lyrical soprano saxophone. The sound is full of the clarity and vibrancy typical of Mood Records. This is the kind of European jazz that I love.
