Final Drop “Mimyo”

A new release from the unit Final Drop, formed around DJ KENSEI, GoRo the Vibratian, Kaoru Inoue, and KND after a 20-year hiatus. The production of "Mimyo" started with the reunion of DJ KENSEI, one of Japan's top DJs known for creating unique soundscapes through diverse selections and sound control, and GoRo the Vibratian, a vibration artist who plays didgeridoo, kalimba, mouth harp, flute, handpan, percussion, and self-made instruments. These two artists, who usually work as solo artists/DJs, musicians, and sound engineers both in Japan and abroad, revisited an extensive archive of audio materials (DAT tapes) recorded during their field recording expedition to Yakushima in 2002. In 2023, DJ KENSEI and GoRo the Vibratian re-listened to these recordings, digitized them, edited, re-constructed, re-touched them, and further built upon them through sessions to create approximately 17-minute soundscapes that are unique to Final Drop.
