Freddy Hubbard, an American trumpeter who has excelled in many groups including Eric Dolphy, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, and Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, and has recorded numerous masterpieces with his own group since the early 1960s, left an album on the British Fontana label in 1966. The album was recorded in New York in 1961 with a sextet consisting of Willie Wilson (tb), Pepper Adams (bs), Duke Pearson (p), Thomas Howard (b), and Lex Humphries (ds). The tracks include the lively A1/B1, the slow blues jazz A2/A3, and covers of standard numbers in a soft B2 style, all featuring excellent compositions. Tracks A3 and B2 feature a one-horn quartet led by Wilson on trombone, without Hubbard and Adams. This album was reissued as a limited edition from the <Jazz Line Label Reissue> series by Norma in 1992, with an obi and insert included.
