An album released in 1965 by Friedrich Gulda, a renowned jazz pianist/composer representing Vienna, Austria, who has been active at the forefront since the early 1950s. Despite his classical background, Gulda left behind classic cosmic jazz albums like "Fata Morgana" in 1971 and "Nachricht Vom Lande" in 1977. This album marked Gulda's venture into full-fledged jazz composition. It features notable soloists such as J.J. Johnson (trombone), Freddie Hubbard (trumpet), and Sahib Shihab (baritone saxophone, flute). Additionally, it includes recordings with the Euro Jazz Orchestra, featuring Ron Carter (bass), Mel Lewis (drums), Herb Geller (alto saxophone), Rolf Kuhn (tenor saxophone, clarinet), Kenny Wheeler (trumpet), and many other jazz musicians. The album brilliantly showcases Gulda's ability to expand the possibilities of jazz using classical forms, resulting in a dramatic and truly remarkable piece of work.
