Released in 1977, this album features Argentinean tenor saxophonist Gato Barbieri, who made his debut in the '60s and went on to make a number of progressive Latin jazz albums in the '70s. His passionate playing, which can be heard on his early-mid 70's Flying Dutchman albums, is still there, but the arrangements on this album are much more sophisticated, with a new soul/jazz-funk essence. This album has a spiritual, elegant, and urban mellow atmosphere, and is a great example of the rare groove style that was unique to this era, leading to the urban fusion of the 1980s.
