An album released in 1970 by American composer/pianist George Russell, whose work spans from solo performances to jazz orchestras since the 1950s. Tracks A1/B1 were composed as stage music for the ballet "The Net," commissioned by a Norwegian television station, and recorded in 1967 at a radio station in Stockholm, Sweden. A1, with a duration of 17 minutes and 45 seconds, and B1, lasting 11 minutes and 30 seconds, are quintessential jazz orchestra pieces showcasing Russell's style. The funky parts and avant-garde elements that appear throughout are captivating. Of particular note is track B2, an experimental piece that transports you to a cosmic world with its effective use of electronic organ. It's truly remarkable.
A1: Othello Ballet Suite
B2: Electronic Organ Sonata No.1
