Gerry Hemingway Quintet
Outerbridge Crossing
Sound Aspects (Germany) 1987
sas 017 (LP)

sleeve : EX(SRW)
media : EX+/EX-(side B has light surface noises on some parts.)

Gerry Hemingway, whose 1988 solo album Tubworks was featured in the OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION guidebook, released this album in 1987, This is a quintet album featuring Ray Anderson (tb, tuba), David Mott (bs), Ernst Reijseger (cello) and Mark Helias (b). The long free jazz piece with free-form cutting edge sounds is very aggressive and interesting, but I am very attracted to the A2/B2 piece, which expresses a dense and deep world with low tuba and baritone sax and cello playing long tones like a drone. I'm very attracted to A2/B2.

A2: Not Having
B2: Therenody for Charles Mingus
