This album, the third in Victor's "Selected Contemporary European Music" series, features works by Gilbert Amy and Anton Webern, who pursued total serialism alongside Olivier Messian, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Pierre Boulez, and others. The B-side by Webern is a bit too much, because so operatic, but the A-side by Amy is noteworthy. A1 is a 12-instrument quartet, A2 is a composition for flute, harp, piano, and vibraphone (marimba), and is performed by Jean-Pierre Drout, a percussionist who also worked with Michel Portal and Fred Frith in the 1990s and 2000s. Both are typical of Seriel's technique, but if you listen to the sound, you will see an interesting soundscape.
