Denon (Japan) 1983
WF-7006-ND (LP) w/obi, insert.
sleeve : EX-(some small and slightly dirts.)
media : EX+/EX+(some slightly noise.)
An album released in 1983 by shakuhachi player Goro Yamaguchi, who, after studying under his father Shiro Yamaguchi, inherited the position of second head of the Kinko-ryu Chikumeisha school in 1963 and went on to perform not only in Japan but worldwide, contributing greatly to the development of traditional Japanese music. The album features Kohmei Tanaka, Komei Mizuno, and Hohmei Yamato. Alongside A1, a shakuhachi solo considered one of the foundational pieces of Fuke shakuhachi repertoire along with “Kumoi Jishi” and “Koku,” the record includes B1, an arrangement by Yamaguchi himself of a kokyu composition by blind master Kengyo Yoshizawa, reworked for shakuhachi quartet. A superb work that allows listeners to experience the essence of Kinko-ryu shakuhachi, it also boasts powerful sound quality thanks to PCM digital recording, capturing with stunning clarity the interplay of stillness and movement, tension and release.
A1: 真虚霊
A2: 砧巣籠
B1: 千鳥の曲
