This is a 1981 album by Heikki Sarmanto, a distinguished Finnish pianist who has been active since the early 1960s. Notably, he has produced numerous works with his jazz group and, in the 80s, ventured into symphonic orchestral compositions with New Age flavors. The album's music was created for the film called "Wild Waters," produced by Alko, Finland's state-owned alcohol monopoly company. Similar to his 1984 release "Suomi," which was featured in the guidebook "OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION," this album also seamlessly merges the performances of Juhani Aaltonen, Pekka Sarmanto, and Esko Rosnell from the jazz/rock field with a string orchestra. The result is a magnificent presentation of Finnish emotions through emotionally charged and dramatic arrangements and performances. The melodies also carry a certain Japanese-like sentiment. Highly recommended.
