This album, released in 1982, is the first recording of a historical piece composed in 1951 by John Cage, the most important avant-garde musician of the 20th century. Performed by Herbert Henck, it is a representative work of chance operation, a technique originated by John Cage, and as the title of the album suggests, it embodies the music of indeterminacy, or music by chance. It is more like watching the action than listening to the music. John Cage, who was always ahead of his time when it came to doing things that no one else had thought of, is a great man.
