Released in 1990, this is an album by Horatiu Radulescu, a Romanian composer who moved to Paris, France at the end of the 1960s to study and experiment with spectrum music under the influence of Karlheinz Stockhausen. The A-side, "Clepsydra," is a piano ensemble of 16 sound icons, with no keys played at all, but the sounds created by plucking and scraping the strings in various ways are spatially layered to create an extremely noisy and deep soundscape. The b-side, "Astray," is an ensemble of six different saxophones, which are also not wind instruments in the slightest, and their tones are jittery and gritty, echoing in the sound field, and are certainly not played in the same way as usual.
