This album was released in 1982 by Ichiro Ishida, a Japanese composer known for introducing Deodat de Severac, a French composer who lived at the same time as Debussy, to Japan. It is performed by Izumi Tateno, a Japanese pianist based in Helsinki, Finland, who is known for her active performance of works by Finnish modern and contemporary composers. Composed to reflect the scenery and lyricism of Ishida's native Akita, the work is said to be strongly influenced by the aforementioned Severac, and is a wonderful piece with a beautiful and fragile melody that evokes a silvery white northern scene and beautifully expresses the lyrical world of Japan, touching the heart. It was released by Asia Records, a company that used to exist in our store's neighborhood.
