This 1983 album, led by pianist Jan Kaspersen, who was active as a member of the Danish avant-jazz rock group Blue Sun and contributed to Danish ambient gem Fashions of Moon by Fred Israel, features a quintet lineup with Simon Cato Spang-Hanssen (tenor and soprano sax), Bjarne Roupe (guitar), Klavis Hovman (accordion, bass), and Ole Theill (drums, percussion). The album presents a diverse range of styles, from quirky post-bop to breezy contemporary jazz, Caribbean-flavored fusion, and jazz-rock reminiscent of Kaspersen’s Blue Sun days, all while maintaining a cohesive sound and superb performance. The occasional oriental-tinged melodies add a distinct touch that is characteristic of Danish jazz.
