This album, released in 1980, features a quintet led by the Dutch pianist and keyboardist Jasper Van't Hof, renowned for numerous masterpieces ranging from psychedelic jazz-rock of the 1970s to world music of the 1980s. Joining him were Bob Malach on tenor sax, Didier Lockwood on violin, Bo Stief on bass, and Aldo Romano on drums and guitar. The tracks present a blend of urban jazz funk, starting from an urban-spirited intro to intricate breaks, accompanied by Jasper Van't Hof's spacey synth work in a cool, funk-driven A1. The interplay between Bo Stief's expansive bass lines and Bob Malach's saxophone is remarkable in the urban jazz funk A2. The album encompasses a cross-over jazz-rock with a bright sound that fills the space delightfully, reminiscent of the resonant tones found in ECM releases.
