Jerome Richardson, an American multi-reed player who boldly ventured into new musical styles such as jazz-rock and fusion, not limited to modern jazz, while continuing his work as a sideman with big bands led by Quincy Jones, Oliver Nelson, Sad Jones, and others. This leader album, released in 1959 from New Jazz, showcases Richardson's adventurous spirit. Accompanied by Richard Wyands on piano, George Tucker on bass, and Charlie Persio on drums in a quartet setting, the album features smooth grooves, including blues jazz in A1, starting with Tucker's resonant bass solo, and organic flute melodies dancing over Afro-Cuban rhythms in B1. It's a masterpiece that delivers delightful hard bop and jazz ballads. This Japanese reissue was released as part of the "Wave Jazz Classics" series by WAVE in 1991.
