Released in 1974, this collaborative album brings together Jerry Goodman, violinist of The Flock and former member of John McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Jan Hammer, the highly accomplished keyboardist whose work spans jazz and rock. The first thing that strikes you is the extraordinary instrumental ability of both musicians, who between them handle violin, drums, guitar, piano, keyboards, and virtually everything else heard on the album. Hammer’s drumming and percussion in particular are absolutely first-rate. From heavily driven progressive rock and jazz-funk to deeply spiritual electronic passages created entirely with synthesizers, the album is an intensely concentrated expression of the two musicians’ uncompromising musical vision.
