Released in 1973, this is the first solo album by American guitarist Jerry Hahn, who joined John Handy’s group in the mid-1960s before going on to work with Gary Burton, Steve Swallow, and others, becoming one of the key figures in the 1970s fusion movement. Recorded as a quartet with Merl Saunders on organ and synth, Mel Graves on bass, and George Marsh on drums, the album presents a groovy jazz-rock sound that moves freely across jazz, rock, and soul. Highlights include B1, a fast-driving, psychedelic-leaning jazz-rock track; B2, a soul-jazz number featuring sharp organ work from Saunders; and B3, a soulful cover of a Miles Davis classic. The punchy yet warm sound quality is also excellent.
B1: Sunshine Superman
B3: All Blues
