This album by American pianist Jessica Williams was released in 1980 as the first release on Clean Cuts, a Baltimore label that has released many of Dr. John's works. A classically oriented jazz pianist, she also performs modern and ballad-type piano solos, but also includes tracks with a rather unusual approach. The backing musicians include only drums, percussion, and bass, and A2 has a lyrical cosmic crossover sound that makes full use of electric piano, Hammond organ, and synthesizers. Or rather, it is completely progressive. Furthermore, A3 is a moving development with a spirituality reminiscent of Don Cherry or Pharoah Sanders, and A4 is a very nice spiritual soul-jazz with an organic and peaceful message. These interesting minor works are still available. The dreamy artwork is also lovely.
