1988 leader album by saxophonist Jim Pepper, who also connects with Don Cherry and others. Released on the German jazz label Enja, the album features Stanton Daivs (tp), Kirk Lightsey (p), Santi DeBriano (b), John Betsch (dr), Arto Tuncboyaci (perc), and Caren Knight (vo). A1 has a great melody and beat sense reminiscent of the fusion of Don Cherry and New Orleans jazz, B3 is a reprise of the classic "Witchi Tia To" by Jim Pepper, which was covered by Jan Garbarek, and Caren Knight's gospel-like B3, a reprise of "Witchi Tia To," a classic song written by Jim Pepper and covered by Jan Garbarek, and B4, a spiritual song featuring gospel-like vocals by Caren Knight. This is a wonderful jazz album with a casual blend of various ethnic elements and light percussion.
A1: Bamasso
B4: Caddo Revival
