An album released by American saxophonist Jimmy Forrest in 1972 on Delmark, who had previously joined Jay MacShann's band in the early 1940s, played with orchestras led by Andy Kirk and Buddy Morrow, and formed his own band in the 1950s, leaving leader works on Prestige and New Jazz. The recordings were made at the end of 1959 with a quintet consisting of Grant Green (guitar), Harold Mabern (piano), Gene Ramey (bass), and Elvin Jones (drums), and include different takes of the same songs, highlighting the session's atmosphere. Forrest, deeply rooted in R&B, showcases a distinctive blend of powerful blows with underlying melancholy. Particularly noteworthy is his sensual playing on slow numbers, which is simply superb. The album was reissued domestically in 1990 as part of the "G&D Collection" from Century Records.
