This Japanese exclusive album by American singer Joe Lee Wilson and his group, The Bond Street + 1, was released in 1976 on Whynot under the production of Masahiko Yuh. Known for his remarkable vocals on Archie Shepp's 1970s works, such as Attica Blues and The Cry of My People, as well as on Charles Greenlee's 1977 Baystate classic I Know about the Life, Wilson shines once again. The group includes Shiro Mori (guitar) and Kiyotaka Fujiwara (drums). Starting with Track A1, a deeply emotional song dedicated to John Coltrane by Billy Gold, the album also features masterpieces by Duke Ellington, Horace Silver, and Track B3 by Miles Davis and Jon Hendricks. Every track on this album is a superb example of Black spiritual jazz vocals at their finest.
A1: Mode for Trane
A2: Sophisticated Lady
B1: Song for My Father
B2: One
