This is an album released in 1987 by John Kaisan, an American shakuhachi player who came to Japan in the early 70's to study shakuhachi in the course of his research on folk music, and was certified as a shakuhachi master of the Tozan school in 1977. It features Takao Naoi (g), Hitoshi Hamada (vib, mar), Yoshinori Nohmi (per), and Yukihiro Takao (b). This is a work that showcases sophisticated ethnic jazz throughout, skillfully incorporating elements of Latin and exotica while beautifully blending them with the unique floating sensation of the shakuhachi's withering tone. The performance of the participating members is also very excellent. This is a piece that is not often
