Anthropologist Junzo Kawada, who has written extensively on Africa as an authority on ethnology, was in charge of field recording and composition of this 2 x LP box set released in 1982. With Kawada's own commentary, the set contains a large amount of traditional music and storytelling of various tribes and peoples, field-recorded in various parts of the African savannah region. This is a work of great cultural value, with very interesting sound sources, such as examples of tribes using music as a language. The accompanying booklet contains essays by Toru Takemitsu, Osamu Yamaguchi, Mutsuro Takada, and Satoshi Ebisawa.
