Featured in the guidebook Obscure Sound. A superb 1978 solo album by Japanese guitarist Katsutoshi Morizono, who first emerged as a member of the progressive rock band Yonin Bayashi and later went on to play with Prism and Kazuo Takeda’s Creation, while also building an extensive solo discography. The album features top-class session musicians including Satoshi Nakamura and Shuichi “Ponta” Murakami, and is centered around bluesy crossover/fusion and jazz-rock. The real standouts, however, are B2, a cover of James Vincent, and B3, a Booker T. Jones cover—both transformed into sophisticated urban mellow grooves with restrained dynamics and a distinctly mature, sensual atmosphere. Superb arrangements and performances throughout.

B2: Space Traveller
B3: Last Tango in Memphis
