Kwamy Munsi, Dr. Nico and Tabu Ley Rochereau are renowned artists from the Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) in Central Africa. They were formerly a member of the Orchestre African Fiesta and, after leaving the group, they led their own bands which released a number of popular albums. This album contains material recorded during his time with African Fiesta. The A-side contains four Lingala songs composed by Kwamy Munsi and the B-side contains two each of Rumba, Son and Cha Cha Cha composed by Nico and Tabu Ley Rochereau. It is the Congolese music of the mid-sixties, the prototype for the soukous that blossomed in the eighties. With roots in traditional music in Congo, the warmth of the live instrumentation and the fluffy touch of the vocals and chorus work is very pleasing from start to finish.
