Subramaniam, the Chennai-born Indian violinist/composer versed in both traditional Carnatic music and Western music, and known for his numerous collaborations with jazz artists such as Stu Goldberg, Larry Coryell, and Stéphane Grappelli. The album features many crossover jazz musicians, including Tom Scott, Stanley Clarke, Larry Coryell, and George Duke. It presents a fusion sound infused with elements of Spanish music—including flamenco—highlighted by tracks such as A4, where a 7/6 funk groove drives rapid-fire tabla and Indian chants, and B1, showcasing Duke’s shimmering keyboard work and Clarke’s sharp slap bass.
