A 1979 album by American keyboardist and organist Lonnie Liston Smith, who went on to release numerous classics following his 1973 collaboration with Gato Barbieri and Stanley Clarke, Under Fire. Alongside familiar collaborators such as David Hubbard, Marcus Miller, Peter Brown, Aurell Ray, Butch Campbell, and Steve Thornton, the album also features vocalist James Robinson, a member of Change. Highlights include the title track A1, a crossover dancer that follows in the footsteps of “Space Princess,” the dance classic from the previous album Exotic Mysteries, while pushing the sound in an even more urban direction. The album also includes a number of tracks filled with rich, mellow grooves.
