An avant-garde group from Belgium, Aksak Maboul, led by the genius composers Marc Hollander and Vincent Kenis, released their brilliant first album in 1977. Originally released on Kamikaze, an independent label that produced only four titles in 1977, the album was later re-released in 1981 on Marc Hollander’s label, Crammed Discs. Dan Lackman, a member of the Belgian synth-pop group Telex, participated as the recording/mixing engineer, while fellow Telex member Marc Moulin handled the production. The album features electronic music throughout, with a wild contemporary art electro-magic vibe, including minimal electronic tracks like A1/B3, which hints at the influence of Terry Riley. An absolutely incredible album. Highly recommended!
