This collaborative album, released in 1983, features Turkish folk music's iconic composer/singer Zulfu Livaneli and Greek female singer Maria Farantouri. The album presents a stunning blend of Turkish and Greek traditional music. Track A1 showcases Maria Farantouri's folkloric vocals over an exotic groove created by the mysterious tones and scales of the Turkish string instrument, the saz. On track B6, baritone saxophone eerily dances over a beat filled with groovy percussion and dry-toned guitars, evoking a heavy psychedelic vibe. This is a remarkable discovery of oriental folkloric grooves, where Turkish and Greek folk music organically merge. It even feels harmoniously connected with Japanese kayoukyoku (popular songs). Every track is outstanding.
A1: Leilim Lei
B6: San Ton Kerem
