This is a leader album released in 1988 by Marty Cook, an American trombonist who played on a free jazz masterpiece released in 1969 by The Marzette Watts Ensemble and also played in Gunter Hampell's group. Except for Jim Pepper's score B3, all of the songs are Cook's original compositions, and they are all in the blues-based post-bop style. The quintet is based on a blues-based post-bop style, with primitive drumming by Betsch who also played in Archie Shepp's and Waldron's groups, Pepper's native feeling saxophone, and Cook's trombone creating a funky groove. The spiritual ethno-jazz B2, where you can feel the pulse of the earth, is one of the best.
