Michael Nyman, a British composer known for his work as a music critic and his significant influence on contemporary music, particularly for coining the concept of "minimalism" in his critique of John Cage's music. He later became a notable musician and composed numerous film scores for director Peter Greenaway. He openly declared his admiration for the concept of ambient music, much like Haruomi Hosono and Yasuaki Shimizu. In 1976, he released his first album on Brian Eno's Obscure label. The album consists of two extended tracks, with the A-side featuring a 27-minute piano solo by Nyman. It's a pre-ambient minimalist music piece that gradually evolves as simple riffs are repetitively interwoven. On the B-side, there is a percussion duo by Nigel Shipway and Nyman, creating an enjoyable sonic experience with metallic percussive instruments reminiscent of Gamelan. This first Japanese pressing from 1982 includes liner notes by the late Satoshi Ashikawa. It is in excellent condition.
